Alpine Public Library News

The Alpine Public Library will show a wholesome children’s movie in the Junior Room on June 24, at 1:30pm.  Kids of all ages are welcome.  Children under the age of seven should be accompanied by an adult.  For more information, call the library at 837-2621.

The summer reading program will be held from 3-4pm, June 23, in the Junior Room.  Come meet Captain Silversword, a friendly pirate who will entertain the group with creative balloon twisting!  Kids will also hear pirate poetry, make a treasure map, and look at gold nuggets under a microscope.  This program is for children ages 6-10.  For more information, call the library at 837-2621.

The summer reading program will be held Thursday, June 16, from 3-4pm.  Children will hear inspiring Father’s Day stories, make a special gift for dad, and look at shaving cream under a microscope.  This program is for kids ages 6-10 and is free of charge.  Fathers are asked to drop-off and pick-up their children at the front desk so as not to spoil the surprise!  For more information, call the library at 837-2621.

The Summer Reading Program will be held Thursday June 9th, at 3pm in the Junior Room of the Alpine Public Library.  Kids will hear the hilarious story of “Bad Dog Marley” by New York Times bestselling author John Grogan, and “Nobody Likes Me!” by Raoul Krischanitz.  Children will make dachshund flip-books and look at dog saliva under a microscope.  A special guest from the Alpine Animal Control, Ms. Cody, will be on hand to discuss pet care and will bring some dogs for her presentation.  This program is for children ages six and older and will last about an hour.  For more information, call the library at 837-2621.

Spanish Story Time meets every Thursday at 11am in the Children’s Room beginning June 9.  Kids of all ages are welcome!

All children ages 0-5 years are invited to Toddler Time every Tuesday morning at 10am.  Meet in the shady backyard for exciting learning centers and an age-appropriate story time.  This program is messy, so please wear play clothes.

Saturday 5-28-11:

• Cuentos en Espanol 11AM- Hear a story in Spanish. All ages welcomed.
• 1pm Karl Peterson discusses “Snakes of the Trans Pecos”. Back by popular demand!

Monday Closure:

• Both the library and Re-reads will be closed in observance of Memorial Day.

The Summer Reading Program will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, for children ages 6-10.  Kids will hear stories about ferocious dinosaurs, play the stegosaurus stomp, make a T-Rex puppet, and look at bone cells under the microscope.  This program is free and lasts about an hour.

Spanish Story Time will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 28, in the Children’s Room.  Kids of all ages are welcome.  Beginning June 9 and continuing through the summer, this program will meet at 11 a.m. on Thursdays.  For more information, call the library at 837-2621.
